Meeting call to order

7:35 P.M. -- General Meeting Called to Order with Pledge of Allegiance after Ordinance Hearings.

Approval of Minutes

Motion by Koldjeski to approve the minutes from the General Meeting on 11/12/07 and the Work Session on 12/5/07, 2nd by Martenson. Motion voted, all in favor.

Announcements

None

New Business

  • 2008 Budget - The 2008 Budget has been advertised as ready for public review with no EMS Tax and no tax increase. Motion by Koldjeski to adopt the 2008 Budget as prepared, 2nd by Martenson. Motion voted, all in favor.

Standing Committee Reports

POSTED - Planning Commission

Road Master

Martenson reported that the road crew has been doing maintenance and preparation for snow on the trucks.

Planning Commission

Accepted the preliminary plans for the Swartz Subdivision.

Rec Committee

LaCoe reported that the annual canvas has brought in $9375 this year. More than past years. The soup sale is Friday, December 14, 2007. LaCoe reported that the Committee would like to ask the Township’s road crew to shovel snow at the entrances during storms. Martenson explained that it would not be possible for the road crew to do the shoveling and roads need to be their priority. LaCoe will work on finding if the people we hired for the ground maintenance in the summer will be willing to do the shoveling. Amber and Kim Tenio were present to discuss their plans for a daycare / after school program. They are hoping to be able to open March 1, 2008. Motion by Koldjeski to approve the daycare based on Sileo’s review and the State’s, 2nd by Martenson. Motion voted, all in favor.

Wage Tax Collector

A list of advantages was presented to the Supervisors for review for the Township collecting the school district taxes. Koldjeski will dictate a letter to Miller to be sent to the school district stating that this is the Township’s opinion and we are willing to collect our own taxes and would like to sit down with the school district to discuss.

Abington COG

No report.

SAPA

Koldjeski reported that the committee is in the implementation stage of the plan. It may be more problematic for the larger areas like Dunmore and Scranton with the zoning.

Solicitor Report

Sileo reported that the paperwork is done for the dedication of Hidden Valley Road and we just need to transfer the occupancy permit with the State. Sileo is preparing a petition to the Court of Common Pleas to reject the sale of property in Newton Township.

Public Input

  • None

Motion by Martenson to approve and pay the Township and Recreation Center bills as presented, 2nd by Koldjeski. Motion voted, all in favor.

Being no further public input and discussion, Martenson motioned to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Koldjeski. Motion voted, all in favor.
