New Business

  • Stakeholder Ray Keller - Mr. Keller reported about the committee meetings he attended on Tuesday and Wednesday for the stakeholders for the Scranton Abington Planning Association. He stated that he believed that there was good input on all aspects and it will be approximately 15 months before the comprehensive plan is completed. Mr. Keller will keep the Board up to date on future meetings.
  • Keller Subdivision - Mr. Keller also stated that he and his brothers are doing a lot line adjustment with the family farm. One of the parcels is a one-acre piece that has the garages and barns that will be co-owned by all three brothers. This area, according to our subdivision ordinances, requires a perc test as per the Planning Commission. On having Os Patton come up, it was discovered that it is virtually impossible to have a perc done because of setbacks. Motion by Koldjeski to have printed on the plans that based on the one acre lot with no sanitary facilities on the lot will not change at the present time or until such time as sold must be perced at that time, 2nd by Martenson. Motion voted, all in favor.
  • Robert Dickert - Mr. Dickert approached the Board again regarding the problem with signage going onto the Newton Ransom Blvd. After some discussion, the Township will submit a letter to PADOT requesting a reflective directional sign be placed on Rte. 307 to show the turnoff onto the Blvd. with Senator Mellow and State Representative Jim Wansacz copied.
  • Computer Program - Chief Reese requires upgrading to Windows XP Professional to be able to use the county’s new program. Prices received from Staples and Office Max is $199. Township has $30 coupon for Office Max. Supervisors state to purchase the program from Office Max.
  • Copier - Chief Reese received a copier for free that needs some service. Miller found that it would be $85 for the service man to come to the Township plus however much it would be to fix the rollers. After some discussion, Koldjeski suggests that Miller contact Tom Langan of Topp Copy and see if they will take the copier in the office for a trade and what he would recommend for this office. Miller is also to get prices for small copier for Reese’s office.
  • Security System - Chief Reese suggested that we install a security system. Miller pointed out that the wiring upstairs needs to be maintained since we are having some problems and also that there are no smoke alarms in the building. Miller to contact Carl Holweg about the wiring upstairs and hard wired smoke alarms with security sensors in Miller and Reese’s offices.
  • PA Invest - Information was received from the PA Treasury Invest Program. Agreement was signed to start the process if we should decide to invest. The program has better rates than banks and all money is liquid.
  • CEO Report - Haan gave a report concerning his activities since last month’s meeting.
  • DPW Radio / Pagers / Barricades / Truck - A price of $460 was received to replace Summerhill’s radio that was ruined during the flood in November. Supervisors approved to purchase. Pagers are not being used; therefore, Supervisors ask they be cancelled. Prices were received for barricades. F&S had the best price of $92 per piece with blinking lights. Supervisors approved to purchase fifteen. Specs for a truck were reviewed by Martenson. Supervisors state that the truck is not what we need.
  • Bridge Lane - Latest report received from the County is that they are waiting for the frost to leave before fixing the bridge; therefore, Supervisors ask that the DPW place concrete barriers at each end of the bridge.
  • Buranich Subdivision - Subdivision mylar has still not been submitted to the Township. Koldjeski stated that a letter is to be sent stating they have ten days to submit the recorded mylar.
  • Wage Tax / Real Estate Tax Collectors - Miller to ask the collectors if they would like to use the meeting room to accept tax payments.
Bills were signed and discussed. Bill for Accuscript will be held until Monday night’s meeting to discuss with Pardue.
