Meeting Called to Order

Meeting Called to Order at 7:40PM after two conditional use hearings.

New Business

  • Kizer - Mr. Darren Kizer of 1779 Newton Ransom Blvd. presented the Board with a letter requesting a seven (7) foot variance for front setback of a building. He also is requesting a conditional use hearing for a multi-family dwelling. Board suggested that he first obtain a variance hearing before the zoning board and if approved, it will move to a conditional use before the Township supervisors.
  • Speed Limit Newton Ransom Blvd - A Township resident approached Supervisor Martenson in a request for the Township to approach the State and get a speed limit reduction on the Newton Ransom Blvd. Miller to send a letter to the State requesting the reduction. Koldjeski will call Chief Gerrity of South Abington Police about Vascar on the Blvd.
  • SAPA By-Laws - Pardue signed the adjusted by-laws for SAPA. There were two changes from the first set of by-laws including changing the statement that a municipality would be the treasurer and that South Abington Township would handle the monies.
  • LCATO - The Lackawanna County Association of Township Official dinner will be held at Runco’s in Dunmore on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 5PM.
  • Bridge Lane - Ned Slocum presented the Township with the paving specs for Bridge Lane. Miller will advertise to be opened at the September 10, 2007 meeting. A clause will be inserted in the advertisement stating that the successful bidder must provide $1,000,000 liability insurance and also include statutory workers compensation.
  • September Work Session - The work session will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 6:30PM in place of the regular work session that was to be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007.
  • Skatepark - The lease was signed by the Township for the Abington Skatepark Assoc.
  • Health Insurance - Quotes were received from the broker for the current insurance and Health America Insurance. Koldjeski will contact the broker to see what the grade is for Health America and to also discuss other insurance concerns regarding an employee’s spouse.
  • PAWC - Pennsylvania American Water Company wants the Township to have a qualified person perform a pressure test on the fire hydrant. Miller to contact Wayne Sherman to see if he can perform the test.
  • Alarm & Emergency Lighting - Pardue stated that Holweg is unable to perform the work. Township will need to contact another electrician.
  • CEO Report - Haan reported on his work this past month and what occurred at the past Planning Commission meeting.
Payroll was signed.

Bills were signed and discussed. Health Insurance bill will be held until Koldjeski is able to get more information.

Being no further discussion, meeting adjourned. Motion by Martenson to adjourn, 2nd by Koldjeski. Motion voted, all in favor.
