Meeting called to order at 6:35PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
Chairman, John Pardue advised the purpose of the meeting was for a conditional use request of Keith Eckel / Countryside Community Church to place a church on Orchard Drive. At which point, Pardue turned the meeting over to the Code Enforcement Officer, Scot Haan.
Haan stated that this is an agricultural zoned area and a church is a permitted use with a conditional use. The plans were presented to the Planning Commission and the Commission had no problem. Mr. Eckel stated that this property was once the property of Clarice Ayers on Orchard Drive and there a subdivision is on the books with the Planning Commission. Mr. Eckel plans on donating 9.8 acres of the entire piece of the property to the church. The other part of the subdivision stands alone. The land development plan will be provided in the near future. Setbacks, screenings and parking are addressed on the sketch plan provided by John Seamans. Haan stated that it meets the use standard for a conditional use and recommends approval.
Motion by Koldjeski to approve the conditional use application on Lot #4 of the Keith W. Eckel 2009 Orchard Drive subdivision, which intends to be conveyed to the Countryside Community Church, as prepared at the time of the land development all conditions will be met in accordance with Newton Township’s zoning ordinances, 2nd by Pardue. Motion voted, all in favor, Martenson abstained.
Being no public input, motion by Martenson to adjourn, 2nd by Koldjeski. Motion voted, all in favor.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:55PM PM.
Respectfully submitted by Francine Miller.
